TestDisk is a small utility that will save your life. If you think you have lost the files on the partition of your hard disk that no longer appears in Windows Explorer, it will be a great help. It is able to recover a partition lost after a bad manipulation or following the propagation of a virus.

The software is DOS compatible but also on all Windows operating systems. TestDisk is able to recover partitions from all of the following file systems: befs (beos), bsd disklabel (freebsd, openbsd, netbsd), cramfs (compressed file system), dos/windows fat12, fat16 and fat32, hfs and hfs+, hierarchical file system, jfs, ibm log file system, linux ext2 and ext3, linux raid, linux swap (versions 1 and 2), lvm and lvm2, linux logical volume manager, netware nss, ntfs (windows nt/2k/xp/2003), reiserfs 3.5 and 3.6, sun solaris i386 disklabel, eggs and ufs2 (sun, bsd, etc), xfs, sgi logged file system.

The PhotoRec module also present in the archive allows to recover the data present on the damaged partitions.
